Default I got lucky!!!....maybe....

I happen to come across a 8.25" rear end out of an 06 Dak......for free, so I took it (don't know why, my truck already has the 8.25" rear end).

Heres the bad: The ring and pinion are marred from the exploded spider gear teeth.
The spider gears are destroyed

Heres the good: Its a LSD diff (I have an open diff in my truck)

What the hell do I do? I want a locker, but all I would need to do is yank this diff out of the new rear end, clean it up, replace the clutch packs, replace the spider gears, and put it in my rear end...

Maybe it would just be easier to do a lunchbox locker.

Someone help me decide...

I'm staying away from giving advice on putting things in your rear end......

as for the differential, How much is it going to cost to replace the clutch packs/spider gear compared to buying a new lsd? How much offroading do you do? Would you be better off with a true locker?

I'm not 100% sure on the 8.25 rear-end, but I was under the impression that the carriers are different between lsd and non lsd rear ends, so you may not be able to just pull from one and put it in the other. Can anyone confirm this?

Truss it, put a spool in it, disc brakes. Throw it in the dak!

Lol, so when I drive into the sonic drive through, I get the "iiirrr, iiirrr, iirrr, iirrr" as I round the corner...
The bracing is not a bad idea though.

I think I'm going to put in a lunchbox locker in my existing open diff.

Obviously, I don't want the Lightning/Keaton mob attacking my place of residence. I'm not saying that the mob would succeed, I just don't want to use up my ammunition stash...lol.

Of course I would do a write up. There are a lot of how to videos on youtube already.

Yes yes, I know this, but getting it from the King Jackass and being preformed on his Chariot would be much better...

Aaahhh. Understood. Well, looks like I will be going that route. It's weird though, I did a full write-up on the HHR fan and Spal controller, but Blown had done it first and recieved much more feedback. However, this might be the first lunchbox locker thread for the 3G section, if memory serves...
