They weigh about the same strangly so that 5.3 will pull that cheb around really good. Though, IIRC the LS model is manual everything except transmission and headlights?
I wouldn't buy either. If theres rust starting on that Dak already I'd stay away. Since I'm a staunch opposer of GM I'd stay away from the Chev. If you want a full size look for a ram, or if you want a mid size look for another Dak. My 2 cents.
I'd get the 1500 as well..just because its more useful and has the aftermarket. You could build that up to be a street truck or an off road machine with ease. Whereas it is difficult for us Dakota guys to come up with more ideas for our trucks. If it was a couple years older though, I would say the Dakota because I think 01 and 02 was when Chevy trucks had problems with frames rotting and those notorious rusting rear bumpers. Edit: one more thing..I hate the amber sidemarkers on the tail lights on the 1500's and in 2003 they changed it to just red and clear. Big difference cosmetic-wise IMO
The 2, 2003 Chev 1500's my work has are each on there 3rd Steering rack. One is a supervisor truck so it doesnt see TO much use, the other is a QC quys which is daily use.
But imo they are good truck, other then that. lol
