Default Water Leaks In Cab

I have been having leaks in the cab on both passenger side and driver side. This is definitely rain water, not AC Believe I have solved problems. The rubber seals above the doors looked sort of messed-up, so I removed them and re-installed using Permatex silicone sealant. Seals were in good shape but it appeared that somebody messed with them before and the screw holes were enlarged so screws did not set properly. There was silicone in holes to hold screws?? I replaced with larger screws and siliconed the backside of strip.

In the front doorjams, on the hinge side, there is a drain hose sticking thru. I inserted grass trimmer line into these hoses to clear them. Water gushed out with dirt, especially from passenger side. Where do these hoses drain from?? I'm thinking from the cowl area ? Don't think it is from sunroof.........

By the way..I'm finding this site very informative, been doing a lot of reading posts, but haven't been posting ......Hmmmm I guess this means I've started to do so.

I'm not sure what to tell you ... All I can say is that I do not have these hoses but I also have a Used 05-06 not a HO motor and no cowl on hood a quad cab and NO sunroof... and dont know if hoses were added in later productions or if it was removed from my truck or never existed.... because I dont have all the extras you do

I had the same problem, but only on the passenger side. This was the reply I got from this board on what the problem was. Hope this helps.

"I removed the glove box door so I could see where the water was coming from, then ran water on the windshield until I found the leak. Part of the HVAC system protrudes into a cavity beneath the windwindshield where incoming air is directed. The gasket that seals this part to the body was apparently misaligned. Also, there is a large plastic cover over the wiper mechanism at the base of the windshield. This cover has slots in it to let air in. Where this cover meets the windshield there is a foam gasket which is supposed to prevent water from running straight down the windshield into the air intake cavity. This gasket was also misaligned. I removed it and replaced it with some foam weather stripping from Lowe's. I also put some silicone sealer around the HVAC component I mentioned above. I put everything back together, let the silicone cure for a day or so, then did the hose test again. Problem solved - the leak was totally gone. The truck has been outside since then through several heavy rains and the leak has not returned. Basically, this can be fixed with less than $10 worth of stuff (self-sticking foam weather seal and a tube of silicone) and a little work. The most time consuming part was removing the wiper arms and plastic wiper mechanism cover. The entire operation is less than 1 hour."

Thanks for the replies. I do believe that I have the problem solved....had a LOT of rain ysterday and no new leaks. Those hoses I'm talking about are on both sides, located in the middle of where the front door hinges connect to the body. It goes upward behind the kick panel toward the windshield but cannot tell just where it goes from there. Something else I found was the 3rd brake light was letting water in also. Noticed it when I was washing the truck one day. I took it off and put some silicone around the edges of the lens and put it back.

If you still have a leaking problem check out if you have a local Safelite around. I work for them and we have these leak detectors that solved my leak. There was a small gap in the urethane and I used the detector and sealed it from the inside. Its also very cool to find out if you have any door or window seals that are leaking. It omits a ultrasonic sound. Pretty cool!
