Thinking of upgrading to K&N filter
Ok well I am looking to increase MPG and get more power. I also would like to get better sound more sound preferable. I have the 3.7 v6. Other than exhaust which I would be looking at next, I just thought I would start with the least expensive before investing in a whole lot more.
we are talking about drop in air filters which usually run about $54 from K&N (like you just bought)..not the full intakes with a tube/heat shield which retail around $300. but the drop in filter is a good mod and definitely worth it
I had the drop in k&N filter on my red and now on my grey truck. (shoulda took my filter out of my old truck when i wrecked it) Both are awesome filters. Kinda saw a little bit better performance, but its nothing to write home about. Id like to get something like the airaid JR kit that uses the stock air box, but just removes that big "box resonator" on the top of the motor.
I have the full intake, and my ram air hood would not be functional with the closed box. The heat shield/shroud with the K&N works nicely with my hoods intake port.

-also if you want a good sound, you can talk to a muffler shop and they should know what sounds good or not on certain vehicles. i know the flowmaster delta 40's and 44's sound good, but i've only listened on v8's.

on a related side note, Why is it 100 bucks+ for a piece of HDPE tube from Airraid that goes from the stock air-box to the intake... I just don't get that.
I just might get a PVC pipe or one of the 30 dollar ones and modify the tube to work
eBay infuriates me

we've all seen it, most pointless thing they ever made..maybe $50 but $100?? hell no. Either pvc, or get a nice 90degree metal elbow pipe and cut it to spec. thats my plan. That with a nice drop in will do just fine.

Unless the 4.7 one works?
