Its the best bang for your buck upgrade you can do to these trucks.

www.superchips.com has all the info you need. Just don't buy it there, check out eBay and Amazon and a browse around for them.

100% worth every penny!

Superchips 3865 or Cortex 3950 is what you need, both do the same exact thing but the 3950 has a warranty (really unnecessary) that adds more $$ to the total. These show up in the classifieds here on DF from time to time also.

if ur truck is a 6spd..... its scary.... if its an auto... its slightly less scary but still awesome... its worth it just to be able to adjust your shift points...

Even though I'm still deployed, I ordered the 3865, just got word that it arrived at home...can't wait to upload that baby when I get home. I liked the thread that was shared here on how to do the "Advanced Custom Tuning" I forget who posted it, but it was nice seeing how they and I could be wrong but I think they also inlcuded Blown or JKeaton's tuning specs...at least gives us amateurs something to go by if we want to start tweaking our trucks, and not f*** anything up royally...

Any advice from those of you that have one already on any prep work before you install it? Such as filling up your tank with high octane, run a full tank through with a fuel system cleaner, get a tune up if you're due, etc etc?

It wouldn't hurt if you are due for a tuneup but no it isn't necessary. Say you run the Performance tune then, yes, make sure you have 91 octane in the tank. BTW it says it on here a few times but A. Tow Tune is where the fun is at and B. You can run it with 87..no knock. 89 is what is recommended but you don't NEED to use it. I do want to try 89 octane one day however and see if there is a noticeable gain while driving
