FOB door remote programming question?
Still no luck... I've purchased 2 spare FOB remotes, but just can't seem to get either of them programmed. My 06 Dakota QC 4x4 does not have the Sentry Immobilizer / Chip Key, so this should be easy. Instructions on the Dodge Forum and in service manual seemed clear enough. I'm just trying to see if anyone else has had this issue... or perhaps can point out what I'm doing wrong.
I'm able to enter the programming mode with no problem (1 ding), but am unable to get past this point. After entering the programming mode, instructions state to simultaneously press unlock and lock buttons (on remote to be programmed) for 2 seconds, then release and then I'm suppose to here 1 ding confirming new remote has been programming. I've tried several time with two different used keys that have an identical numbers as my working remote (FCC ID: KOBDT04A, IC: 3521A-T04B), but still no luck programming. What the heck am I doing wrong!
I've tried to eliminate the basics by verifying the batteries were OK, replaced them anyway just in case. Checked and rechecked remote buttons are sending signals (local parts store's Remote tester).
This sure sounds like Operator Error. I'm also working on getting a 2nd FOB key programmed for my a completely different car and I have the exact same issue there as well. Enter programming mode but ut then cannot get the new/used remote to program. BTW this car also has FOB remote without an Immobilizer system (2005 Grand Vitara).

Are you using two working keys before trying to program the new fob?
If not, there's your problem. Most vehicles these days require two working key fobs to program any additional keys.
I had no problem programming my 3rd and 4th keys.

Thanks for the feedback Dakotaff,
If the owner’s manual pdf I have for Dakotas is accurate, vehicles that do not have the optional Sentry Immobilizer (like mine), only need 1 programmed door remote to program additional FOB door remotes (not keys). Manual also stated if you have the Sentry system, you'll will need 2 existing programmed transponder Keys (not remotes) before you can program additional keys. I'm trying to program additonal door lock remotes.
Anyone else successfully programmed a door remote (FOB remote) using an existing programmed door remote?

Programming Additional Transmitters (not door remotes)
Vehicles will be shipped from the assembly plants with
two key fob transmitters programmed only for that
vehicle. A total of eight fobs can be programmed for your
vehicle. Additional fobs can be programmed to your
vehicle through the use of a currently programmed fob.
Use the following procedure to program additional key
fobs if the vehicle is not equipped with Sentry Key:
Pages 11,12 of the manual:
"Replacement Keys
NOTE: Only keys that have been programmed to the
vehicle electronics can be used to start the vehicle."
"Customer Key Programming (not Transmitters / door locks)
You can program new keys to the system if you have two
valid keys by doing the following:"
