Opinion on selling price?
Hey all,
Its been a LONG time since I posted on here but nonetheless, here it is.
Unfortunately, i need to sell my 2005 Dakota Laramie due to several reasons. Soon as i bought it, we got hit with a 3rd child and now there's no room for the whole family is one of them. KBB states around 10K trade in but i owe just under 13K. Is 13K a reasonable price to sell private party? Would it actually sell or am i just kidding myself? Truck is just about flawless. Mileage is approx 93K. Give some ideas folks as i may need this gone before winter due to relocation!!!
Thanks!!!

It might be a bit tough to get rid of it @ 13K... though it is a Laramie, which adds a bit in my book. My suggestion would be to list it at 13000, and say reasonable offers considered.
Get it cleaned and detailed if you can find somewhere cheap if it is needed, that will help sell it.
DO NOT SAY THAT YOU OWE 13,000 on it in the ad, unless you are okay with low offers.
you are coming into 4x4 season, but the dakota is going to be a tough sell
GOOD LUCK!
Don't be surprised though if you get a bit less based on miles and that these trucks just aren't that hot.
I would say if you can get 12500 for it, you do pretty good.
I got my 07 SLT with 89K for 10,200

I'll let the cat out of the bag, I've had mine listed for about 4 months. I don't have to sell, but if the price is right...I started at $13500 just to put feelers out (not expecting to get that, but you never know). I just dropped to $12000 and have someone coming by tomorrow to look at it. Before that, I had one person offer me $7000. I laughed them off. Mines got 80k and a ton of mods, not that I expect to get any of that back on the sale.

they want to sell you another one. I get letters all the time from dealers telling me there is a shortage of Dakota's (no ****) and they will give me top dollar for my truck, even pay it off for me if I owe money...as long as I buy another vehicle from them...

Tough market to sell in right now. After rebuilding the engine (4.7 HO) in my '02 Grand Cherokee Overland (top of the line) with 3" lift, large tires lockers in both axles and a few other mods. Absolute mint condition. 105k on clock but as I say I did a total rebuild after I lost a valve seat on cylinder #2. Compression after the rebuild was a perfect 190 across the board.
KBB retail is $9200, $7400 trade, NADA about $8400 retail, $6800 trade. I asked $7500 and finally took $6500 after turning down a bunch of offers in the $5000-$5500 range. Problem is EVERYBODY showed up with the same printout of ones available at auction around the state (I have no idea what site lets you pull them up but there must be one since the first four guys had the same printout). Auction prices on '02 Overlands (4.7 HO) ranged from $4200 to $4900. Which I thought was sad. Granted it's a 10 year old vehicle BUT sticker price on it WAS over $43,000.
I wish you luck in getting $3000 over average trade and you never know until you try, but realistically I don't see it being too likely...
