I could be wrong, but personally, I think you just weren't used to a truck that didn't have worn out springs in the back.

Glad you like your new Ram.

Maybe they screwed up at the factory and put ram springs on it or something like that. I don't know of anyone else having this kind of issue as bad as yours is.
That screw up at the factory is quite possible. That truck was made not too long before they started cracking down on em smokin' blunts and drinking 40's at lunch.

Have you checked tire pressure on the rear tires or the load rating? When I got new tires on the back of my 06 the donkey at the tire place inflated them to 60 psi for load range D tires and the truck bounced all over the place. Deflated them to high 30's and it was drastically better. If there are load range E tires on it I'd think about swapping them out for lower load range tires. I personally see no need for load range E tires on these trucks.

Oh yeah, E load tires is gonna make for one rough ride! I wouldn't even put E tires on a half ton full size truck myself, since Ds are still rated higher than the hauling capacity of a full size half ton. E tires should be reserved for 3/4 ton tow/haul trucks...

I had actually changed the tires at 12k miles when I cut the sidewall on two hitting a rock in the yard (junk Goodyears). Am running a set of Yokohama YK580 in a 265-60R18. These handle effing great by the way compared to the Goodyears. A LOT quieter and do seem to track better. The skittishness did improve with these. Tire pressure isn't the major factor either. Have played with the pressures and have tried anything from 28psi to 38psi with similar results.

I think it boils down to the factory shocks just SUCK. Any big bump throws the rear axle in the air and wherever it lands is which way the truck is now headed. The shocks just cannot maintain good axle control on this thing. I'll order some Rancho's in the next week or so and test them out.

Default My Dakota Shimmys Bad

I have this 2007 Dakota with 40K miles it is in excellent condition, and I like every thing about it until I drive it. Between 30-50 it will shimmy and it is so bad that anyone riding with me will ask if I dont need the wheels balanced. I have tried evrything. I have had the tires balanced 4 times one was a road force by the dealer. When that did not help I just replaced the tires with expensive tires, and that didnt help ither. Then took it to a mechanic of 40 years experience and he said there is nothing he could find that would cause it to do that. anyone know what I can do to fix this problem. I have a Toyota Siennna with 140 thousand miles and it is like riding on a cloud. If I cant get this fixed I will have to sell it and get a Toyota, That seems a shame that one would have to get rid of a good truck like this because what should be a simple fix.......... Help

If it's vibrating at speed it's either tires, a rim is bent, ujoints, wheel bearings maybe, if the tires are at a high pressure making them rock hard it'll can cause a bumpy ride. "expensive tires doesn't mean they're good. Goodyear tires I've always felt are garbage but they are pricey where as Falken tires I've always been fond of and they are lower priced.

you couldnt of said it better. When i used to work at the dealership they claimed left and right it was because someone built your car on a monday or a friday, either they hated being there (monday) or cant wait to leave so slap it together (friday). Little did we know everyone was getting loaded at the "union" park across the street. Drinking and smoking weed on their lunch breaks, and on the clock. The employees that were recognized were "suspended until further notice". Hence why Daimler Chrysler is now Chrysler LLC.

if your wife and daughter dosent like your truck, maybe you should turn your man card in and get a prius or something. But these are the BEST midsize trucks that are around. Dodge has over 15 years of experience shoving fullsize v8's in this small of a truck.

When I test drove it, I drove on a super smooth road for about three miles each way, figuring that a 2011 would drive much better than my three past Dodges.

Can someone tell me how to correct this?

Considering how old this thread is, i would assume you've addressed this? Sounds like sway bar issue. I know my 08 Laramie rides softer that my 98 R/T did. But its also a fully loaded quad cab instead of a stripped, lowered club cab.
