Default Flushed and Refilled Coolant

The truck is now 6.5 years old, and have 65,000 miles on it, and I just did my first coolant flush.

I know: I am very late.

Luckily, the coolant wasn't in too bad of shape. This HOAT formulation is FAR superior to the DEXCOOL that GM vehicles use.

They didn't use MOPAR brand, but instead used ZEREX G-05, which is the over the counter HOAT formula used in Dodge, Ford and Benz. (Same stuff as mopar without the pink dye, gold instead).

Having dealt with Dexcool on a few other vehicles, I was very pleased to see the excellent shape of the HOAT coolant that had a 6.5 year run in my truck.

I will never wait 6 years again though, as I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as "long life coolants", and all coolant systems should really be flushed every 3 years max, regardless of coolant formulation.

I have had DEXCOOL GM vehicles that when changed every 5 years still got overly corrosive and gummy. -the long life service interval should not be taken seriously by the consumer.

I didn't just drain the radiator and res tank, I had a complete flush done, and it looked pretty clean upon inspection.

This HOAT stuff seems like much better sh*t.

At my old work, we recommended coolant flushes every 30-35k miles.

I've been using the Zerex G-05 50/50 to supplement my coolant. Seems to work well.
