Good work, i love seeing people create their own parts for their trucks, speaking of i think im gonna have to get some pvc and replace the factory resonator box and intake tube that is connected to my Airaid quick fit.

Here are some pictures of a cold air intake I made for my jeep - I made this several years ago as a temporary measure, until I had time to design & fabricate something prettier, but it works so well, I never changed it:

Most of it's made from 3" ABS drain pipe, the coupling to the TB is a rubber plumbing adapter (I think it's a 2" to 3" adapter), and the piece I used to mount the filter is an ABS shower drain that I modified. I used this pipe because it's really easy to weld, so modifications were easy to fuse together. I was going to change it to PVC tubing which is a lot easier to heat and bend (I use a "heat box" for this), but never got around to it. The filter was the costliest piece in the whole assembly, the rest I had as scrap & leftovers from other projects & home renovations.

That's awesome. I remember when my dad did the same thing for his jeep. I wish we could do the same with my Dakota but there's less room under my hood than there was in the jeep.

If you put a lift on the truck, the engine goes down and then there's lots of room to muck around with drain pipes, but if you leave the truck with the engine in the stock position, there's still room. The air plenum & the air box have to go, and then you can measure exactly how much room you have for an elbow that would go from the TB to the air intake tube - off hand, I'd think that you should be able to route a 3" intake from the grill to the TB, but you'd need to move a few things.
