I have an 09 Dakota Big Horn 4.7 with a bad right bank upstream O2 sensor.
I can't see any way to get it out without dropping the Y pipe assembly or maybe removing the fender well.
Does anyone know of an easier way.

Service manual says to drop the inner fender.

I'll have to get a handful of plastic rivets to put it back in.
It's the o2 heater that is bad to I am not in a big hurry but will post back as to how it goes.

 

Make sure and buy a good brand of sensor, NGK/NTK (same company) or Denso are usually recommended. Bosch and Standard brands are all over the place in the parts stores, but poor quality.

NTK is just above $21, and Denso is just under $30 on RockAuto (without using the 5% discount code you can find in the General Discussion section). A Bosch or Standard brand unit are about $18 and $19, respectively. Its not worth the few dollars difference, get the NTK (supposedly OEM manufacturer) or Denso.

 

I was aware that NTK is the OEM but my local parts house only had Bosch.
We took the Bosch sensor out of the box and stamped on the top portion of the sensor is NTK/Japan. There is no mention of Bosch or a Bosch P/N anywhere on the sensor itself.
My parts guy is going to order the NTK and we will make a side by side comparison.

 

They are not normally the same. Evidently Bosch outsourced from NTK/NGK in this instance.

 

Just a follow up:
Still a pain in the butt with the inner fender removed but it's done and all is well.
I installed the NTK packaged sensor but both my parts guy and I agree that the Bosch he had in stock is the same sensor.
Both were identical in every detail.
