Default Strange noise...need help

I have a 2005 v8 runs extremly well, but there is a noise that im not sure what it is. It comes from under the hood, sounds like clicking noises. Ususally it makes this noise when the truck is cold or been seating for awhile. After i take off and drive a couple miles it goes away. Also when it makes this noise the more i accelarate the louder it gets. Any ideas what it could be??

Lash adjusters usually wont get louder on acceleration. The clicking just gets faster.
However, with a really weak/worn one, a change in volume can be experienced.

I have the same thing with my '06 (3.7L v6). Passenger side, towards the front. Annoys the hell outta me. But not enough to get me pulling the valve cover to replace it (Yet) as it sounds like there's only one causing the noise. LoL!

I know, eventually it will annoy me enough that I'll replace all of them at least in that head. (Hey! already going to have the cover off, might as well)

Check for exhaust manifold leak. These trucks snap manifold bolts and cause leaks when cold. I mean, it still leaks but, after they warm up everything expands and reseals enough for the tick to not be heard. Common problem with these trucks. Motor and trans mounts are made of rubber which is very flexable and allows alot of motor movement causing the exhaust manifolds undersized bolts to break or shear. And nobody makes aftermarket poly mounts. Have someone hold the brake while in gear and give it some throttle and you can see the motor move like 2 inches front to back. Not to mention the side to side which probably contributes to the idle feling so rough. Only cure for that is to get someone to make solid mounts for you.

Is it possible that it might have anything to do with the clutch fan getting worn out?

Not really, although exhaust leaks should not be ignored for too long. In this case it's more annoying to hear that tapping. But, it could affect gas mileage and performance by affecting O2 sensor readings. False readings will cause the computer to compensate somewhere else to correct those readings.

Don't know if I would attribute anything to a clutch fan going bad. Most last the life of a vehicle, others just go. I don't think any year or model of any make can claim they have more clutch fan failures. Water pumps are the same way. They either last forever or they don't.
