Default 08 dodge dakota - random stalling on highway in very cold weather!!!

hey guys so i am at my wits end with my truck i love everything about it except for winter here in canada and what my truck does. i have had this ongoing problem with the truck randomly shutting off when it cold like 20-30 below.

it will just shut down all the power will go out and i will lose everything from speed to braking. this is very dangerous it does it sometimes at 110km what is the issue??

This is the first I've ever heard of this. Does the truck turn right back on? Any error codes or check engine light?

If you want, PM me your VIN, I'll try to see about any outstanding recalls on your truck.

First off, welcome to DF. Second, please don't make two seperate threads asking the exact same question.

So, lets start off by getting some more information on your issue. When you say, "the truck shuts off", are you saying that only the engine dies? Do you loose all electrical power?

Welcome to DF!

I'd first try the battery terminals.

Does it do it once its warmed up?

If no, then...Do you have a block heater? what about a battery heater? Might wanna take a look at that first.

I'm not seeing any open recalls for your truck.

i had a similar issue with the truck stalling out but had nothing to do with cold weather. First it was the spark plugs and then it was a cam shaft sensor. check em out

Shauny,

Has the vehicle been diagnosed by a Dodge dealer recently? If you'd like to PM me, I'd be happy to review this further with you.

Let me know if you're interested, I'm here to help.
