my truck will just shut down with no warning in cold weather what is causing this??

 

Mine will sometimes quit just after pulling out of the driveway as I come to a stop at the end of my street. I seems to me that the torque converter locks up when it is cold, so when I brake, the engine quits. Once it warms up, even a little, I don't have this problem.
