I am thinking about purchasing an amp and sub package and was wondering if I am going to be able to hook them up using my factory stereo? If not what do I need to purchase to make it work or if I need a whole new head unit.

You need an amp with speaker level inputs, also known as high level input. You could also purchase a converter that takes speaker input and converts it to low level RCA.
