Auto rear view dimming mirror installed
Since my Dakota did not come with an auto dimming mirror, I felt it was time to change that. I picked up a **** 36100 auto dimming mirror for $69 on Amazon. I figured it would be a simple install if I just tapped into the overhead console wiring, and it most certainly was simple. And it also fit right onto the existing window mount.
I initially tapped the red wire with blue stripe for power and a black for ground. All was fine and put it all together and then realized that that wire stayed hot, so the mirror would not turn off automatically. So I took the overhead console down again and found the microphone Uconnect wire was yellow with a brown stripe. Tapped into that wire and it works perfectly. I don't have Uconnect in my truck.
It's nice having this feature in the truck.
