B.S. flag thrown on that one. They couldn't figure it out quickly, so they gave up and gave you a story.

As suggested earlier, try rotating the tires and see if it moves. To be 100% honest, from the video it sounds a lot like what my bad wheel bearing sounded like.

 

Im gonna take it to a local shop and have them checkit out. If they say wheel bearing ill go back to the dealer

 

With that being said how hard is it to replace these myself?

 

Keep in mind I am not 100% sure its a wheel bearing, as its hard to tell from an online video, but it sure does sound similar. If its under warranty, and the shop states something is wrong, take it to another shop. When they tell you the same thing, take both estimates to the dealership and show them both shops say the same thing. If you don't get satisfaction, ask to speak to the manager. Don't lose your temper, polite but unbudging is what you need to do.

If its under warranty, they need to honor it. Don't absorb the cost yourself just because its easier, unless you have a ton of money lying around, in which case I will email you my address and you can send me some.

How much do they cost? Are the expensive? Because i will need the rear ones if so

 

I do not know how much they cost for yours. If they are the same as mine was, the dealership stated OEM part(s) were a little more than $200 per bearing/hub for the front. The rears I have no idea. And how sure are you that it is a rear one?

 

Noise sounds like its coming from the rear

 

UPDATE!! took it back in today because the noise was getting worse. they found the cause and replacing it for free. bad pinion bearings, carrier bearings, side bearings, shimmings, sealings and possibly more i will find out monday.


needless to say.... this is my first and last dodge

 

Are you the original owner of the truck? Do you know the history? How many miles on it? How do you know the rear end failure was not prematurely caused by a previous owner abusing the truck? You cast doubt on the entire line of Dodge products because your 8 year old truck has some rear end issues? Good luck with your truck and whatever else you decide to get.
