Default Whine at WOT

Hi guys, first post here but have been looking around for a while since I bought my '08 4.7 4x4 a little over a year ago. Lately I've been noticing that on hard acceleration, for a few seconds before the upshift I hear a fairly intense whine or whistle coming from the engine compartment.

Does anyone know what this could be?
I never hear it unless I'm driving pretty hard.
Could it just be a worn belt or something?
No mods yet (that I'm aware of).

Thanks.

I would guess its your cams spinning faster and faster... its a normal sound to be hearing. How many miles are on it?

~50k
I was hoping it was normal. I've only had 6-cylinder Jeeps until the dakota so I'm still learning the normal characteristics of V8 trucks

Throw on a less restrictive intake and a performance muffler then you wont hear it anymore.....

Those are definitely on the to-do list come spring

1. Put new front brake rotors/pads on (in boxes in my living room right now, lol)
2. Tow Hitch
3. Superchips
4. CAI
5. Exhaust

The CAI and exhaust won't do a whole lot, but they will help a little. The Superchips you will love. Tow tune is great, especially at WOT.

Any pictures of the truck?

Yeah I don't expect much from the intake or exhaust, other than the sound.

I seem to only take pictures of my vehicles on the day I buy them.

Day I bought the truck:

I didn't mind the bug deflector on the front until I found out why it was there...

to cover up a big rock chip/dent

I wonder if the original owner had it on there or if the dealership thought it was cheaper than fixing the dent

I would guess the latter...

Nice truck! And if I had to do over I would have went straight to the SC first too.
