Default drivetrain??

I got a 05 dakota slt 4x4. Im curious if the truck has a lsd in it or an open diff? Also what is the difference between the two 4x4 settings? One just being low range?

If you have your vin you can get the build sheet for it. Just Message Dodgecares and ask. There is also a website you can go to as well and plug your VIN in but thats a bit slower These would be the easiest. You can also find out manually by jack the rear axle up.

The settings are like you said. Check out your OM for the specific definitions. If you dont have one I can email you a copy of the 2007 which is practically the same minus some options.

If you want a quick answer to your limited slip question, jack the truck up by the rear pumpkin, put it in neutral (engine not running), parking brake off, and spin one wheel. If the other wheel spins in the same direction, you have limited slip, if it spins in the opposite direction, you have an open diff.

open up your glove box and on the back of it there should be a sticker stating info, mine says corporate rear with 3.55 gears, which now have been changed to 4.10 gears, also you can go to www.allpar.com and type in your vin for info on your truck
