So i got an oil change at a garage
However, you are correct. Many of the newer, and even some older, members read the very last post or two, and then type up their own. It is rather frustrating most days.
okay well here is my bill..this is what I received...most of you are saying it should be 6qtz? well from what i can tell is it was 5 ..and the wrong oil...
ill go over what you all said again but you'd think you should go by what the manufacturer indicated. but like you all said it says 5w30 in there somewhere

If it shows a quart low, then you drive it back to the lube shop, show them the bill, show them the oil-fill cap, and show them the dipstick. Then you say, "Please solve this problem in a manner acceptable to me and the manufacturer"
Upon further review, you didn't get any quarts, you got litres! (doesn't matter, it will still show up on the dipstick)
When I first switched over I had a local oil testing facility check samples of the oil every 4,000. After the 12,000 miles on the oil it started showing higher minerals. They said to sample again in 1000 since the filter should resolve the issue.
After 13,000 mile sample the mineral levels went down to 0%
I never had it sampled at 15,000 since I have only made it to 14,000 in a year.
So long story short, I trust the M1 extended as long as you change the filter and add oil as needed.
I agree. My dealership has specials right now for oil changes that cost less than that, and they would put the correct oil in.
My advice is to check your dipstick and if it is at the right level, never take it back to that quick-lube type place again. If its at the wrong level (quart low), take it back and demand they change it again for free, and this time use six quarts of 5w-20. Even if they take care of you, probably don't take it back there ever again.
I never recommend "quick lube" places, national chain or otherwise.

Thanks for the input Eimer and Jkeaton, they both help a lot. Not that I have any doubts at all believing the info I get from most people here (especially the Admins lol) but for OCD reasons I have to usually fall back to something I learned a while back in the Army regarding information people give you... "Trust, but verify." In this case though, I have no idea off hand where I could go to get samples tested (which is why God invented search engines, I know). In either case, chances are I would end up probably sticking with every 5K, creatures of habit aren't we all.
To the Admins: My apologies for not taking a closer look at the top of the forum or searching for previous threads before adding a new one on a topic that has already been beaten to death. I'll have to get better at doing that.

jk
Who cares
