Like WWOOWW... Last few weeks I was getting annoyed because she was idling a bit rough, and even to the point that last Wednesday when I stopped quickly at an intersection she stalled on (the first time ever!). So, after looking back at a few threads here I found y'all talking about cleaning the Throttle Body and Sensors.

Wow, I mean wow...what an amazing difference it makes! After some CRC, a hand full of swabs, and small pick for crevices (plus polishing up the outside) NO MORE IDLE ISSUES PERIOD!!!

She is running like new, and after removing 122K miles of build up I can imagine she would.

So, when was the last time you cleaned yours?

Exactly, lol...which is why I made the thread...kind of a reminder for those doing a little spring cleaning on their Daks and decide to detail their engine...only a couple bolts to get at it and remove the Throttle Body...plus makes it a lot easier to clean other things, change your plugs, etc etc...

IAC. Thats the only one that makes any difference. TPS is in there to but it rarely needs servicing. IAC is the only one you should remove and clean.

Cleaning those sensors can be a double edged sword, both can easily be damaged. The IAC is a precision stepper motor that is cleanable to a degree, just don't pull out the plunger or it's toast. The TPS is a precision variable resister - it's not as "fragile" as the IAC, but don't be overly aggressive and use a cleaner that doesn't damage sensors.

You're right. CRC makes a nice Electric cleaner for sensors and other delicate equipment that I used for the IAC.

The IAC is the sensor on the top or the bottom at the front of the TB?
And I must need to do this cause mine idles rough and I was thinking I was gonna have to change the spark plugs which looks like a pain the ***. This may save me the trouble.

Plugs that haven't been adjusted/changed in a long time will give you similar symptoms because the plug gap gets burned to a HUGE size. This will cause your rough idle and occasional stalling at any speed (usually begins stalling at low rpm under load, but will progress). Changing plugs is not difficult, just do one at a time and follow the step-by-step given in the shop manual (see the Sticky post to download one)

Download the manual from the link in the Sticky post - this will show you exactly where each sensor is and what they look like.
