I had a power steering pump put on yesterday. On the way home I noticed a whirring, or whinning, sound. When I got home I popped the hood. The sound was coming from the power steering pump. I popped open the reservoir, revved the engine a few times, and could see air bubbles coming up. I messed with it for like 45 minutes and there's still air in it. Is there an easier way to bleed the air out of the lines? Or do I just have to keep at it the way I'm doing it?
Friend of mine said to use a brake line suction tool. I checked Autozone and Oriellys and webpage and they didn't have anything listed under that name. What else would it be called?
WARNING do not use solvent or any thin liquid to flush the PS pump. onlly use power steering fulid. solvent does NOT have enough lube ability to lube the pump. i saw one lock up on solvent, not repairable.
I've got the thing up on jackstands. Took the cap off, turned it on, turned the wheels from lock to lock several times, still getting air in the reservoir. I messed with it for 20 minutes or so. How long does it normally take?
