Default trans shifting too early while cruising

My truck is an 07 ST V6 2wd, for the past month or so the tranny has been shifting into 4th when it shouldn't like when I am just driving along at 55-90kmh and the RPM will be between 1200 and 1600 and it makes the truck stumble and feel like it wants to stall out. If I am driving the truck hard everything is normal.

What should I be checking first to fix this issue? tranny problems scare me.

Whens the last time you had a trans service? How many miles on the truck?

I dont know homw many miles 125 kms is, but the owners manual recommends trans service at 60,000 mile intervals, IIRC. I would start with a trans service. Replace the filters with only OEM filters and just replace the fluid that drains out, DO NOT FLUSH! These transmissions do not like aftermarket trans filters for some reason. There are two filters.

Ballsout,

A transmission service to drain and refill the transmission fluid is required as per the Maintenance Booklet at 100,000km. If you are looking for other maintenance requirements I would recommend reviewing your booklet. If you don't have one a PDF version can be downloaded at:

http://www.chryslercanada.ca/owners/...hp?brand=dodge

I hope this helps!

This may sound odd, but if those V6s have a TPS, I'd check that too. On my previous truck, a 2001 Ram, the TPS started failing and the throttle would jump up and down while cruising, just enough to make it feel like the tranny was shifting or the torque converter locking up and unlocking. Replaced the TPS, unhooked battery for a bit, and all was well.

after you clean the trans. add this to your*chrysler*trans. an external fluid filter
1. go to auto-zone. get 2210, its called a power steering filter, but it is for transs to. it is for 3/8 tubing. by (magna-fine) be sure to use high pressure hose. Reff:http://www.magnafilter.com.au/magna-fine.html*
2. for other sizes wix 58964 5/16 tube size reff:http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlook...sionfilter.asp
