Default Best upgrades for the money

Here goes my first post. My truck is an 05 2wd 4.7. I'm looking on increasing power as well as mileage(I know, you've heard this before) but what are the best things you've heard to do this? I have a borla catback and a CIA right now and I want to go for the superchips 3865.

buy the superchips and download the tow tune..mileage you're screwed no matter what. Get an aftermarket throttle body too or even install an e-fan. Look at my sig and the mods and thats pretty much the basics you can do

Welcome to DF! Superchips is by far the best bang for the buck. Efan, hipotek throttle body, sonnax line pressure booster, all good performance upgrades. Don't neglect the front suspension either, factory components are junk and known for very early failures. Ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links/bushings and struts are weak points. Post up some pics of your truck and welcome aboard!

I think that FrenicX guy has the best bang for the buck mod. Saving up and buying a hemi. Wonder what the total cost of that "mod" was? )

Thanks guys. The E-fan sounds like a good idea but i've wondered about the capability of it in 100 plus degree days here in texas. I also want to do a 180 stat. Does the tb really help that much?

I got the SC in now, is the "Tow" tune give better gains than the performance tune that it comes with?

I'll have to look into the Hypotek throttle body.

I am not sure on paper what the Hipotek did for me, but it gave me grunt throughout the lower hp/tq ranges or so it feels especially when hooked to my trailer. It gave my truck more ***** off the stop light. Did absolutely nothing to the fuel economy positive nor negative. The Fastman gave me nothing but problems... but thats another story.

Tow tune is the best out of all of them, IMO. I was able to run 87 octane gas with my tow tune. I think they recommend 91, but I never had a problem with detonation.

Billy's right about the 68.5mm Hioptek throttle body. It just "feels" like there is much more low end. I also had nothing but trouble from the fastman one.

My efan and 180 degree stat actually made my truck run cooler. You should not have a problem. Removing that clutch fan eliminates a huge load on the engine.

My thoughts too I run the Tow Tune all the time with at least 91 octane (Typicall its 92 or 93)... for the few bucks you save a tank its not worth the hassle to me
