Default Front end vibration after Rack & Pinion replacement

Greetings all,

Just replaced my Rack & Pinion on my 2008 Dakota. Until the replacement, other than a leak at one of the boots there were no issues. Once I had the Rack & Pinion replaced (twice) I now have a sight shudder when turning the wheel right or left. This only occurs at speeds of 5 miles or less. I've replaced the serpentine belt thinking possible worn or lose, the problem remains.

The mechanic seems to think that replacing my power steering pump will resolve the issue. Any suggestion or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rick

Welcome to DF! In the future, posts like this belong in the technical section. Who replaced the rack? I'd take it back and tell them something is not right. Regardless, check the wheel bearings and CV joints.

Thanks for the welcome and the heads up on posting. I've taken it back twice and as I stated the guy wants to replace the power pump. I'll have the bearing and CV joints checked.

Thanks for your response.

Did they do an alignment? That could be the problem, causing the tires to chatter over the pavement.
