Question Need longer Shocks

I have a 2005 DD 4.7 SLT 4x4 with a 2" leveling kit and 2" blocks in the back. A lot of noise has been coming from the rear end and I have finally narrowed it down to the bushings on the shock absorbers. In the process I also noticed that the shocks only allow for 2.5" of downward extension because of the blocks so they are bottoming out especially when offroading. Instead of just replacing the bushings on the factory shocks I would rather replace the entire shocks with ones 2" longer to accommodate for the blocks. Problem is, I know just about nothing when it comes to shocks. How would I find ones that fit the factory mounts and are 2" longer?

Contact rancho or Monroe and ask for the application chart. You should be able to locate it yourself. Or, play dumb, call their tech support line and ask. I'm almost positive that rancho has a shock that is 2" longer.

I figured playing dumb with Monroe would be an answer. I was actually hoping someone could explain how to find out what lengths I would need (extended, compressed, and travel I think) and the sizes of the ends (don't even know what I would need there). I'm trying to get something set up REALLY cheap since they will only be on for a few months tops until the lift kit is finished.

My other options are to live with these noisy pieces of crap or weld extensions on but I would still have trouble with end sizes and bushings if I did that.

What kind of lift do you have? It looks bigger than 2" all around unless you have like 32" tires..either way, if the shocks bottom out they bottom out. screw the stock ones!

It is 2" all around with 32"s. And when off road it hyper extends the shocks and jerks the axle upwards causing unnecessary stress on the spring assembly. And cheap because I'm working on getting 5" of lift and I'll have to replace then. Just don't know how long until that is.

Rough country makes a 1.5" block and shock kit for the *** end of our trucks. You may contact them and see if you can purchase the shocks separately.

Thanks Donkeypunch that would probably work best for me since I just noticed my block on the passenger side is cracked in half.

Sorry I haven't replied for so long. They were 2" of cast iron, both broken, and not labelled for a brand. I replaced them the other day with add-a-leafs I got on ebay which was horrible but worth it. NOTHING fit right.
