Did Dodge change the front strut on the 2010 and 2011 Dakota versus the 2005 to 2009? To me they look the same but when looking up aftermarket replacements I get different part numbers on 2WD models for 2010 and later versus the 2005 to 2009 model.

I'm asking because I was going to buy a single strut and open it up. I'm thinking there is a possibility the cartridge can be changed out or at least the internals gutted and a strut cartridge installed.

Koni makes some nice adjustable cartridges that might just drop right in the strut body. May need to do nothing more than thread the top of the strut housing to install a locking cap. I've done it on other cars and am wanting to give it a shot on my Dakota also.
