I run rockford fosgate components in the front. Had to drill out the top of the door panel on the triangle to put the tweeters. Has Memphis coaxiles in the rear. On a MB quart 4.60. On a RF 8" sub. I love how loud and clear it gets on any type of music and so does alot of my buddys lol. its fun going down in the middle of no where and walking so far away and hear the echos of the music haha!

I'm interested in seeing this finished. May give me a better idea on my sub setup.

So these are the speakers I'm going with for the doors;
Amazon.com: Kenwood KFC-1664S 6-1/2" 180 Watt 3-way Coaxial Speaker System Including Speaker Grilles: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Kenwood KFC-1664S 6-1/2" 180 Watt 3-way Coaxial Speaker System Including Speaker Grilles: Car Electronics

This is the sub I'm going with, I didn't want to go with anything crazy, as I don't need the boom. I just want clarity and punchy bass for those double bass hits in all my death metal lol. It was also affordable.
Amazon.com: Polk Audio db840 8-Inch Single Voice Coil Subwoofer (Single, Black): Car Electronics Amazon.com: Polk Audio db840 8-Inch Single Voice Coil Subwoofer (Single, Black): Car Electronics

And the amp I'm using, it should be enough for the small sub, I got this one because the size will fit perfect in the recess I made in the sub box console replacement.
Amazon.com: MTX RT250D Mono Block Class D 250-Watt Amplifier: Car Electronics Amazon.com: MTX RT250D Mono Block Class D 250-Watt Amplifier: Car Electronics

Here's the latest progress, and I'm working more on the box tonight as well. Speakers will be here tomorrow and I might finish it up tomorrow night or the next day.

Would HIGHLY reccommend Sound Deadening your doors while your in there. Makes a Huge Difference in sound quality with those speakers.

I've had those kenwood 6.5's they were acceptable. too much on the High end for My Liking but acceptable. I did replace them with components after a short time though.

The Sheet metal does the most good with resonance. The Door Panel has alot of Fluff in it already. but the Metal in the door itself will retain moisture and rust faster if you fill the actual metal door with Foam, since the windows drains through the door somewhat.

But to answer your question. Just cover the Metal with Second Skin or Dyna Mat or an equivelant. I used to user Peel and Seal rood sealant but its much thinner now.

It will make a big difference.

I did fill my back doors (Club cab) with R13 insulation and it did cut down on exhause drone and make for a quieter ride. But thats not really an option in a crew cab since the windows roll down.

On an extended cab, how do you guys do rear speakers?? when I tried installing one with the plastic mount, my speaker was like too tall or something (been like 2 years) and it wouldn't work that way cuz the plastic trim wouldn't fit back over. ANy ideas?

Jeremy, I'm not sure since I have a quadcab. Maybe someone here has an idea.

So, I finished the box, installed the speaker, and I tested it on my home threater system and it hits really good. It's not a boomer by any means but it certainly does what I want it to do. I want to hear full range, not really needing my neighborhood to hear it too.

The Kenwood speakers... well they suck. plain and simple. The highs are high, and the mids are ok until the bass distorts them. And they thump, with hardly any bass input they will thump like they are bottoming out. I listen to metal and dubstep, these speakers just don't cut the mustard. Might be fine for someone who listens to country, classical, or jazz. but not the bass heavy music like rap, metal, or dubstep. And they don't hit the lows that the stockers did either. I'll sell all 4 if anyone wants to try them out.... I have some much better infinity Kappas on the way from Amazon this time.

But, I also installed the box into the truck tonight. I think I did a pretty good install, it's hooked to a 12v switched relay under the hood, with a fuse, then fused again at the amp. The line out converter works well, makes me happy to keep the stock stereo. I'll get some pics of how the box looks now with the amp mounted to it and the carpet all over it. I didn't install a cushion on the armrest yet, but I will some day. It's comfortable for now since I wear a jacket most the time now. Very happy about it, just not so much those kenwoods.

Got the infinity kappas today, I'm installing them now then I will get some pics! They are cool, coaxial but they have a real crossover built in, instead of the capacitor bass blocker than most coaxial speakers have.
