Thanks for the replies. It's an aftermarket as in, the box says "Ever-Cool". It's made in Taiwan.

One of the reasons I posted originally is that I remember reading that certain controllers do NOT work with the Taurus/Sable fan. Correct?

You are correct, many controllers just don't have the capability to deal with the amperage needed by the Taurus style fans. The Taurus fan I use on my jeep sucks up over 60 amps briefly on startup, and this draw will destroy anything not rated for that. If you plan to switch to this type of fan, get the 2 speed version, it gives you more "hook up" options than you'd get from the single speed and then you can go with either the relay controller as described by FrenicX, or the Painless PWM controller specifically designed to handle the high amp requirements. The PWM controller makes things easier on both the fan motor and your electrical system.

Ever-Cool is well know as a computer fan manufacturer, I know they made a stab at the automotive market, but I haven't heard much about them. I checked on-line for evercool automotive fans but didn't find much so I'd guess they may have dropped that product line. If they aren't in that business anymore, there must be a reason for that - I didn't do any extensive research on the topic.

I'm using Chinese replacement versions of Ford Contour. Dual fans, my controller runs both fans simultaneously. And, yes, I've had to deal with some quality issues with the Chinese fans, one of the fan rotors fell off the motor--a bunch of JB Weld, a very small drill hole in the shaft, and a D clip solved that problem.

I'm happy with the Flex-a-lite controller. It hasn't been an issue.
