Default E-fan contoller

So I know it's been a lonnnnngggg time since I've been on here (my bad!) but I've finally started getting some stuff done to my Dakota now that it's out of warranty. Those 5 years went by FAST!

The next step is I want to put the e-fan in that I bought for the 05 that never got installed. I have a brand new aftermarket fan with the shroud, but I just don't have the time right now to research it to find the right controller so I'm wondering if any of you guys have links, names/model #s for controllers that will definitely work with a Taurus/Sable e-fan.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

And...I guess I'm back. Haha!

I just made a pretty detailed thread about my install. Is your fan from the 3.8 or the 3.0 sable?

I have this fan controller, it's worked perfectly since February.

FrenicX has an excellent thread on installing a Ford Fan & a heavy duty (low cost) relay based controller for it. Although you sort of infer that it may be a Ford fan that you have, you don't specifically say so - if it's a Ford fan, the configuration it came from would be helpful. If it's not, the make & model of the fan will be needed to figure out what startup amperage it needs.

It's an aftermarket. Not Ford OEM

So like an OEM replacement for the taurus? By TYC, Depo, or "Aftermarket"?

Can you tell if it uses a Siemens motor? It shouldn't matter, if it's supposed to be a direct swap part than whatever motor it uses should have the same amp draw, in theory. But Chinese stuff almost always finds a place to skimp on the quality.

Here's my thread;

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...fan-setup.html

The problem with that Flexalite controller, is that we need to know it's been running a ford fan for that time frame specified. If it's running some other high power fan, it may not be working as hard as it will with a ford fan.. they are beasts.

Without knowing the manufacturer's name and fan model, it's not possible to remotely guess at it's power needs, so posting that info would be very helpful. In the absence of specifics, I'll respond with some generalities - I hope they help. Most of the aftermarket fans you see on-line or in auto accessories shops work within 30 amps, so they're fairly easy to outfit with a controller and you'll find that both relay and pulse width modulated (PWM) controllers are easier to find. There are some that are power hogs on startup, like the Taurus, and for these you don't have nearly as much choice of controller. The next thing that would be nice to know is whether you have a single or double (multiple) speed fan. With a single speed fan, the best approach (in my humble opinion) is to use a PWM controller - this gives you the capability of running this single speed fan at multiple speeds (all controller determined and controlled). Using relays for a single speed fan, although simple to install, gives you only an ON and OFF selection for the fan use. If you have a double speed fan, you can hook up a PWM controller to it's High Speed connection and leave the Low Speed disconnected - the controller now handles this the same way it does a single speed fan & gives you a multiple speed effect (the more air you need, the faster the controller makes the fan go, up to its max speed). If the fan you have is a power hog, you have 2 choices in my opinion - you can follow FrenicX's great write-up if you have a 2 speed fan, OR you can go with the Painless 75 amp capable PWM controller. All these things and more are covered in FrenicX's thread.

Not much more I can give you with limited info.
