ok so i just purchased a 2 inch leveling kit for my truck and i am now looking for something to lift up my rear so my truck is not completely level. I found a add a leaf spring kit by tuff country that will lift it approximately 2 inch, the part number is #85250 but says it will only fit 4wd and i unfortunately have a 2wd. if anybody knows if i can still put this on and not screw up my truck or has any other suggestions please let me know

First off welcome to DF!

I don't really see why it would matter if 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. They only made 2 different rear axle gear ratio's for our truck, but same rear axle on both 2x4 and 4x4.

From looking under my truck, it looks like I could bolt on everything and simply convert it to a 4x4.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Is a 2WD spring under axle?

2wd is over axle, same exactly as 4x4 other then gears. The Gen3 are basically identically the same between 2wd and 4x4, Other then the Transfer case and Front Diff (and related parts) as far as I can tell.

Then I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work.

Yeah, when they redesigned the drivechain and chassis for the 3rd gen Dakota, they used one common drivetrain and chassis. The only difference between 2WD and 4WD is 4WD has a transfer case. Other than that, they're the same.

I literally did this last week end. No it does not matter that yours is 4wd and be carefully when you install. Mine was off ebay and awful to install (but sooo worth it). Mostly because my install instructions were as useful as a sweater in summer and I had to modify the centre pins to fit. Let me know if you want advice.

Which one did you get off ebay, if you don't mind me asking? And, about how much lift would you say you got out of the bargain?

Mine were off ebay as well. Not too bad to install. Gained about 1.5". This gave the rake back after I installed the 2" leveling kit.
