Default trouble cranking 05 dakota

i first notice this problem about 2 weeks ago when i tried to start my truck and every time i would turn the key it would start to crank but then just sputter out. i can get it cranked up after playing with the key a little bit and it has only happened twice after this first time. so im wondering if its my fuel pump, fuel filter or even maybe my iac valve. if anybody has any knowledge about this please enlighten me. thanks.

I'm trying to equate how you came up with your conclusion about how playing with the key to start it somehow means the fuel pump, fuel filter or IAC valve is bad....Lets back up for a minute. It "starts to crank but then just sputters out".....Translation to me reading this is your truck turns over but then just stops turning over, never starts. Which would lead me to suspect your battery is bad/going bad.

Or by "playing with the key" do you mean you take the key and like twirl it around you finger or something and then when you put it back in the ignition it starts the truck...could be a bad/going bad battery in the remote.....

Please clarify a little bit....

if your truck came with a spare key, start using it, my original key finally went and was not giving a good signal to the computer, switched to the spare and no issues, something with the programing and the wear and tare of the teeth and ignition switch
