RE: 2005 vs 2006 Tow Rating on 3.7L
I have an 06 with the 4speed and the trailer package. The 4900 pounds is only if you upgrade to the 3.92 gear ratio with the rear-slip differential. The 4 speed auto comes standard with the 3.55 GR (no rear-slip) and that's where you get the 4450 rating.

RE: 2005 vs 2006 Tow Rating on 3.7L
My 2006 Dakota brochure lists the following Maximum Towing ratings for the 3.7L
Dak CC 4x2 --- 4,900 lb
Dak QC 4x2 --- 4,800 lb
Dak CC 4x4 --- 4,700 lb
Dak QC 4x4 --- 4,600 lb
"All specs are based on properly equiped vehicles."
I can not find any information regarding what is a properly equiped vehicle except I would assume it would have to have the towing package. Nothing indicates a Max Towing weight is dependent on the RER or inclusion of anti-spin.
The 4.7L and the 4.7L HO have the same max except for the CC 4x4 which has a 50# lower rating for the HO.
If someone has the data from 2005, we can compare.
