New EBC pads are coated with a mild abrasive that in effect laps the face of the rotor for improved pad to rotor contact. EBC makes a number of different pads for different purposes. There are TWO green pad types. One is heavier duty for truck use. There are also heavier grade pad compositions in different colors for their suited task. A trip to the EBC website is a good idea.

TIP: check your hubs and bearings to be sure they are not worn. Oscillation of the rotor from a bad hub/bearing will rapidly accelerate wear on rotors and pads.

I put drilled and slotted rotors on the front of mine with EBC Yellow Stuff pads and it made a HUGE difference! I wouldn't have believed that so much improvement was possible from a simple pad and rotor change.

The Yellow Stuff is NOT a low-dust compound, though. My wheels get pretty dirty.
