Default Daytimes Brighter Than Nighttimes

Has anybody else had this. I noticed yesterday that my daytime running lights are brighter than my lights when I drive at night. Any guesses?

On these trucks, the DRLs are high-beams at reduced intensity. High-beams are used because, on average, they are used less than low-beams. Since they are high-beams, they are aimed differently than low-beams and may appear brighter from where you are observing.
