Click click, no start...

Luckily I stopped home and put my truck in the yard, then 15 minutes later went to go out and no start, just a click. All signs point to starter, no codes come up. I found a disconnected black wire, now what exactly am I looking at here?

looks like no ground..disconnect the battery and solder that thing back up preferable with heat shrink or liquid electrical tape to protect it. that looks suspicious though..what would cause an amperage overload to run through the wire and melt it. Unless of course a mouse likes your starter!

That's not a ground, that's the wire from the solenoid on the starter to the starter windings!
You can try what 06Dak4.7Silver said - but I'd pull the starter and take it to my rebuilder in town.
You may need to pick up a starter at an auto parts store - for a 2006 4.7, you can buy a new one for $91 plus shipping (less 5% if you paste a 5% discount code into the "How did you hear about us?" field) ... http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=4152
If it's an automatic, the $85 Tyc is missing the solenoid, but that wire is part of the starter assembly - you'd just have to move the solenoid over. If you don't pick that, you jump up to the $120+core range quickly.

I figure I'll finally follow up the the resolution:
I put together some alligator clips and wire to get it started, a temporary fix of course.
A new starter was necessary.
