When I had my 05 silverado a lot of guys did the 4HI mod. Because all Chevy trucks (91-2014) have separate low and highs they somehow tapped into the system and made it so the lows stayed on with the highs and tripped/bypassed the computer system. Same concept. Even if there's fogs which made it become a 6HI mod.
I don't remember how they did it because I mostly do city driving, plus I had Hellas behind the grille .

I did the 4-hi mod on my 95 Z71. Thats a different beast entirely. No CANBUS.
