Exclamation Brake and ABS idiot Lights

OK quick question

About 4 months ago my red Brake light and Orange ABS warning lights would come on when i stopped the truck then go off when I started off again. About 2 months ago they just stay on solid when i start the truck. Ive noticed no change in braking performance but am starting to think let's just get this fixed. I know I've let this go way to long but due to alot of personal issues this is my 1st chance.

So, anyone have any ideas where to look 1st? Or any ideas? My money is on a wheel speed sensor.

Always, thanks in advance.

Charlie

I would agree to check the wheel speed sensors.

Check the level in the brake fluid reservoir as well.

A scan tool will solve that doubt.

On the hub. Look for a wire going to it and follow it. Also it would help if you would state what vehicle you are referring to.

A 05 dodge dakota 3.7. Don't have 4 wheel abs just rear as my build sheet says. Why would they do back only?

Because a lightly-loaded rear end on an empty pick-up truck likes to do the leading under moderate to heavy breaking - i.e. it likes to swap ends with the front.

Old pick-up drivers always knew this and drove accordingly. Since pick-ups became the new way to show you had a bigger one than the next guy, the driver parts were not so rememberful, so they put ABS on the rear to help reduce the problem. Oh, yes, and cost too.

I personally prefer rear only on a truck. I really don't like ABS otherwise.

2005 Dakota V8. I'm hearing the red brake light has more to do with fluid level and pressures but llike I stated I've been driving it with these lights on for about 2-3 months now and I haven't noticed a difference in braking performance. Today though it was snowing and I was going a little too fast---tried to stop for a red light---hit the brakes and had no ABS wheels just locked and slid
