hood safety catch stuck

hood safety catch stuck

Hood releases when I pull the release but I try to push down the safety catch to open it all the way and I feel it bending and won't release. Any ideas? 05 Dakota. Thanks

Other than getting close to it and inspecting to see if anything is broke, bent, loose, not much I can offer.
