New Driver, New Truck! - What can I do to customize it??
Hello all, just bought my first dakota off of my dad. 2007 Dodge Dakota 3.7L V6
6 speed manual 4x4 Crew Cab. The truck has unfortunately been parked outside all of its life and my dad never got an undercoat, so there is some rust. Major rust on the truck bed right side wheel well. Starting to rust on the inside top part of the left rear wheel well. But the good news is the truck has 76,000, brand new all seasons tires, and power steering pump and lines replaced. So far, I have cleaned out the truck, scrubbed all the interior, added leather seat covers, LED shift **** (sweet!) and new LED license plate bulbs. So far, I love this thing. I want to make it look nice, even possibly show. This spring, I'm getting the rust, dents, scratches, and an undercoat taken care of. I'm totally new to the customizing of trucks too, so any reccomendations and website URL's are greatly appreciated. I'm going for the look like the truck on the bottom.
Got no advice on lowering. Not my cup of tea. Do some searching around. There are some nice lowered trucks on here. Welcome to the forum. More stickers = more powa!!!
Don't know about lowering a 4x4 but lowering a 2wd I know about. Lowboyz coilovers from Airbagit for the front, relocate spring perches to under the axle out back. Good for 5 inches in front and 5.5 rear
You probably don't want to hear this. But take advice from someone who's been there. Save your money and keep this truck a clean well maintained daily driver.
Than find a hobby truck to dump all your allowance in and tear apart and use this truck to get around.
Orrr....buy an el cheapo daily driver. And tear this apart and go crazy. Either way lol.
I imagine lowering a 4x4 would result in the same issues as putting spacers to lift it. At some point it is detrimental to the cv joints.
I would agree with this...and also like to add that the black truck in the photo appears to be slammed...thus increasing accelerated failures to upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.
Yea.. realizing that im sure its a pain to lower that.. scratch that, reverse it! I'm going for a beefy look... maybe just changing the rims or a black plasti dip will get the look. Where do you guys buy your parts from?
Rock Auto mostly, ebay, wherever you can get the parts cheapest. Moog suspension parts, Rancho or Monroe struts, Daystar leveling kits, body lifts. Search in the DIY / FAQ section.
