Thumbs down CEL - Plethora of codes barely runs

Hi folks,

Just purchased a 2009 Dakota RWD Crew Cab 3.7L. It was an auction purchase so there wasn't a lot of time to check it out... noticed the CEL was on and it idled a bit rough... no big deal right? WRONG!

It ran so badly there's obviously cylinders not firing.

Got out my trusty code reader and here is what I got:

P0300 – Multiple Misfire Detected
P0305 – Cylinder #5 Misfire
P2305 – insufficient ionization on #2 coil
P0303 – Cylinder #3 Misfire
P0003 -
P0523 – engine oil pressure sensor high circuit voltage
P0500 – vehicle speed sensor

I'm having trouble believing 2 coils could have failed at the same time although the engine bay looks clean so it could have been pressure washed and caused it.

I'm not the kind of guy to "throw parts" at codes.

Any common themes from these codes or some suggestions where to start diagnosing?

I'm a little worried there might be an ECM or PCM issue with the huge amount of codes I got.

What's the battery condition? How. About the connections between battery, starter and ground? Bad batteries cause all kinds of funky things on these trucks.

All looks well there... no noticeable corrosion or cuts/frays at all.

Something to note.... it looks like the fuel rail was replaced very recently before I purchased it.

Looks and actual are two different things. Measure voltage from battery. Static and dynamic. Post results.

Here is another thread regarding the same code on an 05 Caravan for "P0003 Fuel Volume Regulator Ctrl Circ Low". Reading through it, it's very telling to what you may be experiencing with some solutions, and could account for all the cylinder CELs. This even seems to be reinforced by your statement that the fuel rail appeared to be replaced. I would start there.

my other suggestion, remove the fuel rail and see if the o rings where installed correctly, could be an air into system relation

also if the exhaust manifold is cracked or leaking, and they power washed the engine bay, water could have gotten into the cylinder heads, not to worry there, it will clean up by itself

Ditto on the spark plugs, first thing to check.
