Default 245/70/16 stock... what other size can i run?

Hey guys , my 05 3.7 club cab 4x4 has 245/70/16's . im looking to buy some good used tires but this size is nearly impossible to find used so im looking for something very similar like a 225/75/16 which is 0.7% smaller in diameter.

my biggest concern is throwing the speed out or messing something else up, has anyone changed stock size and what size did you go with? will the computer compensate for speed etc?

any recommendation on a more common size to go with? thanks in advance.

265/70/16 is also a size tire that came stock, and you can put on your truck without any issues. A lot of us have changed tire size, with some lift of course, and the speedometer will be off a bit. The only 2 ways to correct the speedometer is a trip to the dealer, which none of us have done, or with a programmer which allows you to enter the new tire size in inches to get the correct speedometer readout. Or simply just live with the speedometer being a little off.

A 225/75/16 size tire is too skinny for the 8" wide alloy stock wheels, and really also too skinny for the 7" wide steel wheels.
Read this thread on tire sizes and fitment.

Welcome aboard.

It will probably be 1 mph off, I'm guessing. Nothing to worry about, and nothing worth a trip to the dealer. Save the $$$ for something else, like extra tire cash.

if worried use a gps to get your speed and add or subtract what you need when you look at it, been doing that in my other car for 4 years now

i went to 245/75R16, which is a 1 inch taller tire, not that much difference in the speed (3%) and so much more economical for purchase then 245/70R16. my next set will be 265/76R16 once i do a 2 inch lift. Most likely Goodyear Duratrac or BF Goodrich KM2
