Why my keyless is not working?
Hi. I buy a 2005 Dodge Dakota 2dr Club Cab 131" WB SLT and the keyless system it's not working. I know the factory install this system because only the driver door have the lock. The power lock work perfectly even the door close automatically when the truck is running over 15 MPH.
I already check all those points, I changed the battery and repair a broken weld. Then check if the remote signal sent and was positive.
I'll try to explain myself. A security systems technician explained to me that the remote works and sends a signal but the light of the security system does not turn on and I open the door with the key, so I do not know if the system or the keyless are installed on the truck as indicated in the list of features that appears when I enter the VIN number. Honestly I am not a person with economic resources and just try to repair by my self the keyless or the factory security system (if any). I went to several companies related to alarm systems for cars and the only thing they want is to sell me their products. The only thing I want to know is if my truck has a keyless or the factory security system installed and if it was disconnected or whatever. Just try to find a solution. I know that my truck should have the keyless system because is only one door with a lock. I've seen the basic model of the Dakota and both doors have locks.
you mean the drivers door only has the key you insert into the handle to unlock the doors correct, my 2005 is the same way, to find out if your system is working, roll window down and lock the door from the outside with the key, wait a minute or so them unlock the door with the pull up plunger from inside, once you open the door the alarm should go off with flashing lights and horn, to disable the feature if alarm goes off, just start the truck, if alarm doesn't go off then the feature was disabled, or a blwn fuse in box
That "security system technician" may not be fully aware of how the factory Dodge security system works and is feeding you a line of B.S. to get you to buy another system. Pay the $100 diagnostic fee and take it to an actual Dodge dealership.

You might have the same issue that I ran into recently...
I have 2 key fobs. The one I always used ended up having the connector problem mentioned above.
So, I took it apart, re-soldered it, re-assembled, and then it wouldn't work...
After some searching, I found that since the battery was out for more than just a few minutes, I had to essentially reprogram it, which I was able to do only because my other key fob was working properly and the chip in it had the codes for my truck. (the instructions on how to do so were in my owners manual *duh me*)
Fast forward and skipping unimportant details... I had a similar problem, but this time both fobs had no "battery power" for extended length of time, again...took apart, reassembled and NOPE...neither would work.
Thing is this time, since neither key had a working "code" for the truck, the only way I can get them to work is to have them reprogrammed at the stealership (about $50 at least).
To get brand new fobs, and have them programmed would cost about $250-$350...so, for the past few months I've gotten used to just using them like normal keys, but with no push button lock/unlock capability. Was pretty annoying at first, and believe me I look forward to getting it fixed, but for the moment I have other priorities.

Here in Puerto Rico the payment for that services on a dodge dealer are $180.00.
Both doors have power lock but just one have the lock in the handler. I can't open the passenger door from outside, I have to open the driver side door and use the power lock bottom.
