I just noticed a weird ding, like the same one you have when a warning light comes on, when I start my truck every time. After it goes through all the checks I get one ding and that's it. My check engine like is illuminated during the start up checks. Any ideas what it could be because no lights come on on the panel when it songs.

 

have you tried the key trick to see if there are any stored codes?

 

Yeah i've tried several times I have never been able to get it to work. I guess I should have added the truck is a 2007 SLT 3.7.

 

I just ordered an ELM327 OBDII Bluetooth adapter so hopefully I can figure it out.

 

Finally got the key trick to work..I assumed the "OFF" position was the position in which the key could be removed, but it's not. It's the position one click forward. Anyways the weird one time ding on every start was from my rear blinker bulb being out. I knew it was out because of the fast blinking of the indicator light, but once i replaced the bulb the ding went away.

 

that's odd, when my truck has a bulb out, it shows up on the dash as a light bulb, 2005 Dakota

 

As far as I know I don't have that indicator light on my dash unless that light is out lol. I did read in the 2005 FSM manual it would chime 1 time on startup when a bulb was out If I read the manual correctly.
