Default Throttle Position Sensor

Hi Everyone - I have an 06 Dodge Dakota 4.7v8. Recently my truck has started surging at idle. It goes from 600 rpm's up to 1400 and back down. It never really affected it at all while driving however recently if I am in a consistent position with the gas pedal it will start surging on me as well, causing it to either **** up or downshift. Also, at times when coming to a stop it doesn't downshift all the way and instead when I go to engage the throttle it kind of waits and then roughly goes into gear. I checked tranny fluid and everything looks ok with the tranny. The tranny is newer only about 20k miles on it.

Anyone have this issue before or have to replace TPS? If so did you do it yourself or have someone do it? Wondering about cost as well.

Thanks!

Easy to replace. 2 screws hold it in. Google for the best price. Anywhere from $10-$50 depending on brand. Stick with OEM if you want to be sure.

Could you have a vacuum leak? I would check that before messing with the TPS.

Also could try cleaning the entire throttle body and see if that helps I believe that their is one on YouTube of your exact year. If not mine is due for a cleaning and can post one.
