Unable to pump gas
I could go on about how you insert your credit card, or pay cash, remove the nozzle from the pump, open your gas cap, insert the nozzle, press a button or lift a lever on the pump (depending on which kind it is) and squeeze the handle on the pump to start pumping the gas.
But I assume you mean something else,, so please add some detail about what your problem is so that we can assist you.

Last night I was trying to post an experience of mine with my dakota, some engine codes what I did to resolve it and what I learned about it, so I could, or not, help others. But being a new member to the forum it would not let me post it so out of frustration I closed my Ipad and went to sleep and apparently only the title was posted and not the body of redaction.
This is what I really wanted to post (I appreciate the effort of trying to explain how to pump gas):
So I have had this problem for quite some time now, in an attempt to trouble shoot code PO440 and similar evaporative system codes.
I found this after today and copied the following from "myautorepairadvice.com":
Check Engine Code P0440
Do you know what is wrong with your car when it flashes a P0440 code? Learn all about this OBD code and how to fix it from an experienced mechanic.
This code appears when the computer detects your EVAP system is not working correctly. What is an EVAP system? Well all it really is is a way for the fumes that are generated from your fuel sloshing around and expanding on hot days to be stored until they can be sucked into the engine and burnt.
In order to do this, car makers put a charcoal canister (this part just stores all of these fumes) in the engine compartment and install hoses between this canister and the fuel tank. ( Me: if can not pump gas this is the real problem)
When there are too many fumes to fit into the gas tank they all travel through these hoses to the charcoal canister and they are kept there until the computer determines that they can be used in the engine and it opens a valve to let them be sucked into the engine. One of these hoses or the valve that lets the fumes go into the engine malfunctions then there would possibly be gas fumes going into the air. ( me: my canister was heavy than the replacement and water lodge, some gas stations may have water in their thanks)
This is not good for anyone so when the computer sees this happening it will trigger this OBD code.
Possible Causes of P0440 Code
A Leak in the System
Faulty Purge Solenoid (This is the valve that lets the fumes into the engine)
Faulty or loose fuel cap
Faulty or Loose NVLD (This is the sensor that senses whether the system is working or not)
Less Common Causes
The Computer
Leaky Fuel Tank
Bad Charcoal Canister
Because of my inexperience I removed the tank three or four times attempting to fix and erase the trouble code by replacing the components on top of the tank, I did the pump first thinking it would solve the problem. If the car starts and idles is not the pump. Then I replaced the leak detection pump bought from Amazon, please do not buy this items just because they are cheap, buy from a local shop or rockauto.com these are more reliable and better quality parts. So I bought a second leak detection pump locally and was about twice as much but better quality.
Finally today I finished installing the vapor canister and that was the faulty part that I should have replaced from the start as it resolved the trouble code I carried for a year or so.
Did it in about three hours, the dificult phase was trying to raise the tank in place and with the help of a floor jack I was able to secure it, but if you do wait till the gas light comes on so it is almost empty and not heavy before you remove it. Finally I can pump gas normally. Hope this story helps others.
