Disabled CEL !@#$%
Bought a 2007 Dodge Dakota SL 2wd 6 Speed manual and at the time I didn't notice the CEL was not coming on at all. Yep my bad. Pulling codes I find 456 457 codes and will get after that shortly.
I have looked at the back of the instrument cluster and can see no damage or other indications that this is where the CEL was disabled. Looking at the wire harness behind the dash I see no cut or damaged wires.
My code reader is showing CEL is on.
I would love to apply a low voltage to the back of the Cluster to confirm that the CEL LED is still good, anybody have a idea as to pin numbers and polarity?
Anyone got a SWAG as to where else I should look?

If I am not mistaking, wouldn´t the CEL light up when you turn the key to ON, but do not start the truck. I will have to check if mine does this, but I seem to remember seeing the light come on before starting the truck. That would be an easy check.
Also, is the 456/457 codes EVAP/Emissions codes? If so, I would start with a new gas cap.
PO456 was popping up on my wifes Honda Odyssey and gas cap fixed that.
Good Luck.

from memory I replaced a Ivat? pump which cleared the codes, and you are correct the CEL light comes on with the Key and then goes out if all is OK. In this case the Light stayed on but was not visible because someone put blck tape over the LED.
