Angry 4x4 not disengaging

So here is my problem that 3 mechanics have not been able to figure out. I have a 2007 Dakota AWD/4x4. When I switch from AWD mode to 4x4, everything works properly. The problem is that the 4x4 mode won't disengage when I switch back to AWD (no matter how far in reverse I drive). The only way to get it back into AWD mode is to actually take the weight off the front tires. We discovered this by accident. While the truck is on the hoist, it switches back and forth with no problem whatsoever. The moment it is back on the ground, however, it stops disengaging. Any ideas???

Know nothing about that AWD system, but I'd be looking at any wiring that moves with that front suspension.

you may have a vacuum line leak going to the actuator. maybe the weight of the truck wont let it switch because of a leak. but no weight will let it
