Default switch to synthetic

I am thinking of switching to synthetic oil on my next change. Good idea or not?
Whats the preferred brand and weight of everyone. 3.7 62,000 miles

Do it. Ive used Mobile 1 in the past. The oil change intervals are a lot longer. the whole thing about changing your oil per 3000 mi is a myth now a days. As long as your not beating on your engine or towing heavy loads all the time you can go 10 to 15K on synthetic oil.

I run mobile 1 synthetic in my 3.7 Dakota. I stick to the original weight. 5w20 I think it is. I change every 5000 miles even though the oil says good for 15000 miles. It's cheap enough why stretch it.

I have been running mobile 1 synthetic in my 4.7L and change it around 10k miles, which is roughly once a year for my truck. Been doing this since 2011, no issues at all. I stick with the recommended 5W20.

I've been told in the past that changing oil early shortens engine life. Something about having the best film once the detergents break down. I don't know, I've always went with the correct schedule to save time and money.
