Default New Guy Here

Hello all,
I am new to the forum and also new to Dodge. I have always wanted a Quad Cab Dak every since there was such a thing. I finally got one. Just picked up an 06 Dakota Sport, black. I love it. I look forward to spending time here, and learning alot about Dakotas. I guess my first question is are there any good cold air intakes out yet for the 06 year model. I have found a K&N filter but not an intake system specifically for the 06, and I don't know if the 05 system would work on the 06.

Yes it'll work...nothing really changed for 2006

K&N makes the 77 series & the AirCharger (which just came out) intakes for our trucks.

77 series adds 7hp to the wheels
Aircharger intake adds 9hp to the wheels

If you got the V-8: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=63-1546

If you got the V-6: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=63-1547

Best price I found for the (V-8) AirCharger (& free shipping), $267.68:

The V-6 intake is $292.49 from there

Nice. Thanks. I went ahead and bought a K&N drop in filter until I can get the full intake system. I sent K&N an email to ask if the 05 system would work on the 06 and they replied with a vague we don't have a system for your vehicle email. Thanks again.

2006's are pretty much the same except they added more packages....

like the R/T, Niterunner, TRX, & TRX4 Off-Road

And I think the SLT's come with a body color painted front bumper instead of the chrome strip/black lower fascia like the 2005's

More about my truck.

It's an SLT Sport (which I am thinking about removing the sport decals. I don't really like them.) 2x4. It has the 4.7L V-8 non-high output. The only option I wish I had gotten but didn't is the sun roof. I had a sun roof in my old car and loved it. I passed on the disc changer because I have an Ipod so I have all the music I need. The only plans I have for the truck right now are to put a Flowmaster with dual crome tips, a K&N 63 series cold air intake and like I said, maybe taking the sport decals off. The ruck rides pretty well, I am moving up from a Saturn SC2 so almost anything rides better than that. Of course I am used to getting 34-35 mpg, so I am having a bit of trouble ajusting to the fuel consumption difference. I presently drive 88 miles one way to work 4 days a week. so gas is eating me alive. I pay way too much a month, I use way too much gas, it is black so it is hard to keep clean, but I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have long been in love with quad cab Dakotas, and now that I finally have one I don't care how much it costs me.
